Black and Decker MM1800  build a solid following in the electric lawn mower space over the years and established a reputable name for them self. The Black and Decker MM1800 is no exception and adds nicely to Black and Deckers portfolio. The MM1800 is designed as a budget mower and “on a budget” price point. It delivers all the features a modern electrical mower should have but with out the bells and whistles.

I found lots to like about the MM1800 and in all honesty I truly had a hard time looking for any disadvantages wile testing the MM1800 and found this little mower to be a true workhorse.

WHAT DOES THE BLACK & DECKER MM1800 HAS TO OFFER.

PUTTING THE BLACK & DECKER MM1800 TOGETHER WAS VERY SIMPLE. THERE ARE ONLY A FEW BOLTS TO SCREW IN TO ATTACH THE HANDLE TO THE MOWER.

The MM1800 can mulch, bag and side discharge. However, in order to get the side discharge feature you will have to buy an additional attachment. Mulching is definitely the strong side of this mower as it handle everything from grass to leaves and chunks everything up nicely. The Grass bag is just the right size for a small yard but could be a bit bigger if you intend it for a bigger lawn. Attaching the bag is quick and easy.

Black and Decker uses a patented height adjustment system. This makes it very easy to set the mower at the right height. It uses a single lever which will adjust all 4 wheels simultaneously and only takes a few seconds to do so.

The handle bar is quite comfortable and holds the cord management on the side. To keep the mower going you need to keep a lever up and ones you let got the mower stops instantly. This is a good safety feature. Directly below is the power plug and is build very solid. Overall the cord management is well thought out and will not get in your way.

Cleaning the MM1800 is very easy. The mower is mostly plastic and can just be flipped around and sprayed off with a water hose. You don’t have to worry about any gas or oil leaking and it will never rust.

Ones you are done mowing and you are ready to store the mower away, you have the option to store it vertically as the handle folds right up. Leaving you space to store other equipment.

HOW WELL DID THE BLACK & DECKER MM1800 Lawn Mower PERFORM?

Keep in mind this is a electrical mower and you will not get the same power as a gas powered mower. Cutting tall or wet grass is not the mowers strong point. It can handle tall grass if you have areas where the grass grows faster. You just have to go a little slower in does areas. If you maintain you lawn reasonably you will be quite happy with the MM1800.

This mower is light with its 42 pounds and thus makes it really easy to get around and mow in areas where a heavy gas mower is just painful to work with. On the noise side this mower really sounds more like a vacuum cleaner then a mower and don’t produce high noise levels which is always appreciated by your neighbors.

Here two videos I found on YouTube which shows how simple it is to assemble the Black and Decker MM1800.

IS THE BLACK & DECKER MM1800 lawn mower FOR YOU?

The Black and Decker MM1800 offers all the functions and features of a great lawn mower, without the hassle of oil and gasoline. It is a great mower if you yard is more on the smaller side or anything up to a ¼ of an acre. Technically you can mow bigger yards but then the cord management will become a serious issue and will slow you down. I really like this mower as it It does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s built  solid and reliable. In other words it gets the job done.
